I got this idea, as I often do, in the middle of work day. I was thinking about how, one week ago today, I was getting ready for my birthday party. I was standing there at work considering the things I would need to do once I got home, before my guests arrived. And that led me to think: what did I do in my first week of age 31? I try to post a highlight list every new year, but that never seems to be enough. There are small things that get lost- compliments, events where there were inexplicably no pictures taken, tiny little triumphs. Maybe these things are meant to live in journals and memories that get sandwiched between the bigger "stuff". But I want more. I want to celebrate everything. And this is where the impetus for this blog lies.
Every Friday, or as close to Friday as I can get, I want to post a short list of things that made the prior week awesome. Little things, medium things, big things. Why Friday? Cuz I can. And because to me, Fridays hold lots of promise. They're perched at the beginning of a weekend that holds lots of promise for adventure, even if that adventure if a new loaf of bread in the breadmaker and a documentary playing on the computer.
Here is my very first list. (I like making lists.)
- I threw a successful birthday party. We had fondu. New friends were made among existing connections. I didn't go to bed till 6:30am.
- We had our first Shabu Shaby Night at The Barracks. I made vegetable broth from scratch.
- I started some new pieces, with my yet-to-be-used resin in mind.
